We study, investigate, and explore water across spatial and temporal scales. We focus on how groundwater interacts with conditions at the Earth’s surface.
Groundwater is hidden. As a water resource, groundwater represents the majority of unfrozen freshwater on Earth. Groundwater also acts as a reactive conveyor belt, transporting benign and/or dangerous chemicals to new places. It is almost always moving, though groundwater velocities can span more orders of magnitude than almost any other flows. All of this makes groundwater very important, sometimes underappreciated, and frequently difficult to study.
